Robinson Reserve
Robinson Reserve is located at Birubi Point which is a popular tourist attraction known for it’s large shifting sand dunes. For locals, Robinson Reserve provides direct access to the beach and is a popular park to socialise and stop while walking along the coastal track.
Birubi is rich in aboriginal cultural heritage with the headland being a culturally important meeting place. The Robinson Reserve concept design was driven by a strong community sentiment to improve the overall functionality of the park and enhance the active play experiences.
Key elements of the park design was to relocate the car parking, install a new skate park, provide challenging play equipment, improve access to the beach and acknowledge aboriginal stories through site responsive public art.
Since its opening in mid 2020, Robinson Reserve has seen a large increase in visitation, taking advantage of the upgraded facilities, large expanses of passive open space and improved pedestrian links.
