Collins Street Park is located in the northern suburbs of Darwin and provides a unique waterplay experience, the first of its kind in the City of Darwin. During conversations with the new community of Muirhead there was an overwhelming desire for water play to help combat the extreme heat in the Top End.

The result is ‘creek bed’ with interactive play equipment that enables children to direct and dam water. A feature of the water play is the sculptural stingrays that allow children to pump water and watch it cascade as the stingrays tip due to the weight of the conveyed water. The water from the waterplay is captured and distributed through a subsoil pipe system to passively irrigate the trees downstream of the creekbed.
