Nitmiluk National Park (Katherine Gorge) is on the land of the Jawoyn people. Through a binding agreement with the Northern Territory Government, it is jointly managed between Parks and Wildlife and the Jawoyn Association business enterprise. Nitmiluk National Park is the second most visited park in the Northern Territory and sees more visitors than Kakadu National Park. This places pressure on the overall experience of remoteness and being at one with the culturally empowering landscape.

Working alongside the traditional owners, the Visitor Experience Development Plan (VEDP) provides a framework for ongoing capital investment that will enhance the overall visitor experience, providing world class facilities befitting of the culturally rich landscape.
