Mackillop Catholic College is a new secondary school in the growing city of Palmerston in the Northern Territory. The architectural forms and colours of the buildings are inspired by the surrounding landscape and topography.

The landscape design responds to the built form and layout of the campus by incorporating a variety of spaces that cater for different activities and student needs, including an external ‘hub’. Locally occurring Top End native plants were used throughout the campus as a way of integrating the surrounding bushland into the school.

Existing bushland was retained in the school grounds where possible to provide an instant landscape as well as reducing the overall cost for supplementary landscaping.
